Frequently Asked Questions
As a privately owned treatment center, we have autonomy regarding all clinical decisions and treatment planning. For this reason we have the capacity to individualize a person’s treatment regimen based on the entire person and not just the diagnosis.
Treatment plans are developed around the specific needs of each resident. There are no “treatment tracks,” which means each resident’s treatment plan is developed after the person arrives. In addition, progress is closely monitored and the multi-disciplinary team makes real-time adjustments based on the resident’s needs.
The past, present, and future are all equally important to recovery and hold keys to unlocking resources and abilities one may have forgotten they had. The effects of trauma, alcoholism, and addiction are complex and play out in different ways for each person. Our approach balances accurate assessment and diagnosis with sophisticated treatment and careful discharge planning.
Our treatment programs are 35 to 60 days long, with 45 days being the most common. In rare cases this may be extended to 90 days if necessary.
We accept a limited number of patients into the program, which creates an intimate setting that provides the flexibility to customize treatment plans for everyone. In addition to the various group therapies offered at Sabino, each resident will receive over 47 individual therapy sessions within the 35-day program. This offers a perfect balance of one-on-one and group sessions.
At Sabino, having a substance use disorder or a dual diagnosis is not a prerequisite to receive treatment. Most of our clients have some form of trauma that affects their emotional well-being, but not all of them struggle with addiction.
Our programs are meticulously tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. If addiction isn't a factor for a client, then more focus will be dedicated to addressing underlying emotional and psychological challenges, as well as developing the tools to navigate life's stressors in a healthy and resilient manner.
Our multidimensional approach takes advantage of a variety of research based modalities and the latest research in neuroscience. Each of the modalities that we employ is informed by what we now know about the brain, what we can learn about the particular individuality of each resident, and how we can craft a treatment plan specific to each resident.
For trauma treatment we use the following modalities: EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Psychodrama, Mindfulness, Equine Assisted Therapy, IFS/ Internal Family Systems, Brain Spotting, Gestalt, Attachment Theory, Adlerian Therapy and Existential Therapy.
We employ integrative therapies such as massage, acupuncture, art therapy, outdoor adventure, and yoga are not adjunct treatment; they are a critical part of the entire clinical program. These therapies provide important down-regulation of the hyperactive nervous systems for those who suffer from trauma, and anxiety as well as deliver mood-enhancing benefits to depressive symptoms. These modalities also help reduce impulsivity, improve focus and attention, and develop problem-solving skills. Additional therapies include cupping, reiki, bioenergetics medicine, myofascial release approach, breathwork with reiki, biofield tuning, cranial sacral, somatic experiencing, EMDR, brain mapping + neurofeedback, equine therapy, and horseback riding.
We accept most PPO insurance plans as an out-of-network provider and we are in-network with Compsych. We do not accept Medicare/Medicaid, AHCCSS or Tricare.
At Sabino Recovery we want to ensure your stay is not only comfortable, but full of recreational experiences that entertain and challenge you, all while teaching important skills for your mental health and sobriety. We started the A Wise Mind podcast to break down the stigma of recovery by having open conversations about everything related to trauma, addiction, and mental health. We intend to demystify complicated topics and start conversations that many people need to have but might not have the tools to start. We also take a deep dive into the Sabino Way and how our treatment facility adapts to an ever-changing industry.
We answer some of your questions about trauma and recovery and hope to create a safe space for compassionate curiosity. The issues of trauma and addiction are complicated and often fraught. Many people who experience addiction are ashamed and feel like they can’t talk about what’s going on. At Sabino, we are committed to educating people who are in addiction about their options for recovery and their loved ones about the experiences of addiction and trauma.
